Two of Uganda’s most distinctive experiences in one trip — riding among zebra at Lake Mburo, then trekking gorillas in Bwindi.
Lake Mburo is one of the only parks in Africa where horseback riding among genuinely wild game is possible, since it holds no lions or elephants. This itinerary pairs a two-hour horseback safari among zebra, impala and giraffe with a private mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi — flying between both parks to keep road time to a minimum.
Met on arrival and transferred to a lodge in Entebbe to rest, with no activities on this first day.
A short domestic flight to Mbarara, then a road transfer into Lake Mburo. The afternoon is free to settle in, followed by an evening game drive.
A two-hour horseback safari through open savannah and along the lakeshore in the morning, then an afternoon boat cruise exploring Lake Mburo’s western waterways, home to hippo, crocodile and a healthy population of water birds.
A short flight to Kihihi airstrip and a road transfer into Bwindi’s Buhoma sector, with the afternoon free to relax at the lodge overlooking the forest.
A full day’s private gorilla trek, followed by a community walk with the Batwa people of Bwindi, including a coffee farm visit and storytelling session.
Transfer to Kihihi airstrip for the return flight to Entebbe International Airport.
